Sadie :: Scituate Newborn Photography

Today I would like for you to meet sweet little Sadie. I photographed Erin and Mike’s little love about a month ago, and she is just the sweetest little thing. And tiny! Oh my goodness, now that Lily is getting big, I had forgotten just how tiny newborns are! What a difference just a few short months can make!

I met Erin and Sadie at their home, as I do with all newborn sessions, and Sadie was way too curious about this big camera thing to get sleepy for us, but we made the best of the day, and she and Erin did a great job being beautiful and sweet and cuddly. Mike joined us a little later and I was so glad to be able to get some pictures of him with his little girl, and the whole family together. I love photographing newborns, and I always make sure to get some family pictures, too. There’s nothing more beautiful than a new mom and dad holding this brand new precious life in their arms. It’s the most tiring and heart-wrenching job in the world. These tiny people just grab hold of your heart and turn your world upside down. It’s incredible.

It’s been a joy to be able to photograph Erin and Mike’s engagement, wedding, and new little one this past year. I consider myself to be a very lucky lady to be entrusted with documenting such special times in people’s lives. They are a great family, and I wish them so much happiness (and sleep)!

Sadie was sweet enough to give me a couple smiles during her shoot. Is there anything better than a baby smile?

Audrey :: Newborn Photography

I think we could all use some cute baby pictures this week, wouldn’t you say?

Audrey came into the world in early December, making Gina and Andrew’s a family of three. She was so incredibly teeny tiny, and even having just had a newborn myself, I was amazed by her size. She is now four months old, freshly baptized and full of personality, but looking back at these photos, I am so glad I was able to do these pictures of her. The newborn phase goes by so, so quickly. Day to day, week to week, and before you know it, they’re on to the next milestone or growth spurt.

I was able to get a couple pictures of her when she was a day old, still in the hospital, when I went for a visit, and then spent a nice Sunday morning at Gina and Andrew’s house, doing silly things like putting this teeny baby in her teeny stocking (which she did not like) and getting some pictures of her snuggling with her mommy and daddy by the Christmas tree (which she liked very much).

Toes in the Sand

Just a little update on us. Lil will be 7 months next week and this girl just has my heart and squeezes it daily. She’s growing so fast, it’s just amazing to watch her learning and exploring the world. She’s such an inspiration to me. And those chunky baby thighs just kill me. I can’t get enough of them. I couldn’t resist putting her in a 9 month romper this week just so I could see her little rolls hanging out.

I love watching Sean with her – he is a wonderful daddy and she is just as lucky to have him for a daddy as I am to have him for a husband. We snuck out on a gorgeous evening this week for a family walk by Long Island Sound. Lily got her toes in the sand and seemed to love it! I can’t wait to bring her to the beach back home this summer and get her in the water!

With the weather getting nicer, I am getting more and more excited for what I have planned so far for this spring, summer and fall. My weekends are filling up fast, so if you want to sneak in a shoot at some point, contact me as soon as you can and we can chat.

I am also in the midst of planning some changes to the site (I might just start from scratch one of these days – yikes!), to how I run client galleries, and a few other things. After a quieter season last year, I hope to share more here on the blog with you. I know I haven’t been as good about keeping things fresh and interesting here. I don’t even know if anyone reads this anymore! If you do, thank you! If it were within my power, I would give you a cookie. Any kind of cookie you like.

Coming up next week I will have not one, but TWO newborn shoots to share with you. One is a bit overdue, the other I photographed last weekend. Oh, these tiny babies just make me melt! I really love photographing new babies and new parents. It’s an amazing time in life, watching a family change and grow, in numbers and in love. More babies, please!

Gina and Andrew :: New England Maternity Photography

This post is about 4 months too late. You know how I know that? Because the baby that was on the inside of this featured belly is now three month old. I know. I KNOW. Gina is going to say “Finally!” Geeeez Shannon!” I know. I deserve that. But she gets it. She knows this thing about time. How you seem to wake up each morning thinking ‘How on earth is this kid already all grown up and off to college?’. Ok, so we’re not there yet. Thank. God. Honestly, I don’t know. I have been loving up motherhood something good, though. My girl just turned 6 months old over the weekend. Life before her seems like forever ago. She’s growing and changing and I just can’t get enough. I love photographing her and hope to share some of my favorites from the past few months really soon.

I really miss being pregnant. Honestly, I loved it. I loved thinking about who this little person was, and who she’d become. I loved rubbing my belly so much that sometimes when I’m lost in my thoughts, I snap back to reality and realize I have been rubbing my belly. Which is still a bit round and soft. Must be all those cookies…

Pregnancy looked great on Gina. She was so excited to meet her girl, and I am so thankful she asked me to capture this part of her journey to motherhood. We spent a lovely but cold afternoon in Westchester back in November, rubbing her belly and soaking up that awesome late afternoon fall sunlight. Here are some of my favorites!

In November, I had the opportunity to spend a Sunday afternoon photographing this sweet family. Angie, Matt, and Hannah invited me to their home to do some family pictures with their pup, and then we drove to Pepsico Park to get some nice outdoor fall shots. They are such a sweet family and I had a lot of fun working with them. Hannah was a bit skeptical of me, and decided she would rather smile at me and my weird faces and voices until the moment I lifted my camera to my face. Then it was all business. We got some great shots, though, and these are a few of my favorites!

Erin and Mike :: Cohasset Wedding Photography

Erin and Mike were married on a gorgeous sunny fall day in November, and I loved every minute of photographing it. It was a transitional day for me – first day back to photography since having Lily, and the first time I left her for more than an hour or so. It felt like the first day of school! I missed her, of course, but it felt great to get back to photographing lovely, happy faces. It definitely makes a difference in how I feel leaving her when I am doing something I love. It’s easier. My time is being spent doing something worth being away from her for a time. I want to show her that if you work hard, you can accomplish whatever you set your mind to.

Back to my Erin and Mike. I love these two. Mike’s parents and my parents have been good friends since well before I was born, so it was very special getting to spend the day with all of them celebrating Erin and Mike’s love. They are so sweet together and I know they will have an incredibly happy life. And Erin was just, well, stunning. And I am considering renting out her aunt’s house for any and all photoshoots ever. I mean, come on…

Show and Tell: Stories

I am a visual storyteller, documenting people, relationships, joys and sorrows. I make it up as I go along…a little drama here, a quiet moment there…the finished story being one of a kind. It never has been and never will be the same as anyone else’s. It’s yours, and it’s beautiful.

We all have our own stories to live and to tell. Here’s a little glimpse into what mine looks like recently.

Visiting family this past weekend, Lily intently listened to her cousin Jasper tell her stories involving “Baby Lily who had a smart brain”, and a special recitation of a story auntie Andrea is working on having published (which we will keep to ourselves for now while she perfects it). I am watching life unfold in front of me, sometimes captured with the click of my camera (or iPhone), sometimes just burned into my memory bank, which is growing richer with every day. I love my story. It’s mine, and it’s beautiful.

While I normally would take some time to round up my favorite photo moments of the year, I just need to spend that time getting as many snuggles and giggles as possible from my girl. It’s been an awesome year. In a lot of ways I can’t believe it’s already a new year, and on the other hand, so much has changed and last December 31 feels like a lifetime ago. A lot changes from year to year, naturally, and this has been one of the best as far as changes go. I am so happy being a mama and have fallen madly in love with my girl and photographing sweet baby faces.

I have high hopes for 2013 and will be kicking things into high gear. I have plenty of openings left, and am aiming to do a lot more portrait work this year, so if you are expecting a baby, looking to update your family photos or a headshot, you know where to find me! I can’t wait to hear from you!

Katie and David :: Rhode Island Maternity Photography

This post is very near and dear to my heart, because Katie is not only a wonderful friend of mine, but we found out 1 week apart that we were expecting, were due a week apart, and our babies were born 2 days apart! Her Benjamin was born on September 14, and he and Lily are already great friends! Before he arrived, though, we snuck in a quick maternity session after her baby shower. This girl is seriously gorgeous and was just glowing the whole day. I am so grateful for her friendship, to have been able to go through pregnancy and now mamahood together.

Also, today is her birthday. Happy birthday, Katie!

Erin and Mike :: Cohasset Engagement Photography

Baby, it’s cold outside! I have one week left to hang out with my babe and get all the snuggles I can before she is off to daycare and I ~~cry my eyes out~~ return to the day job. I thought Erin and Mike’s engagement pictures would be nice to look at this week since they were taken at Sandy Beach in Cohasset back in July when it was warm and I got to shoot barefoot with my toes in the sand. These two were married in November, and I will be sharing their wedding soon. For now, put your feet up, pour a warm cup of tea, and imagine you’re there with them on this gorgeous New England beach. It was an early Sunday morning, the sun giving off that special glow that only a summer’s morning can bring, with the sweet, peaceful sound of waves crashing behind us.
